Hi, I'm Ariana,

And I believe having a writing community is the most important part of the writing process. My Digital Writing Community is my attempt at creating a sustainable long-term space for writers to make time to write, encourage each other, study craft techniques, and get answers to your burning questions about writing.

The Digital Writing Community is a monthly membership on Patreon starting at $5 per month. But you'll want to sign up for the higher tiers to access free monthly writing workshops, live Q&A sessions, open mics, and more. Attend the live events when your schedule allows; catch the recordings if not. This is a low-stakes, slow, sustainable way of engaging with your writing process. This is my most affordable offering. because I want you to have a long-term writing process.

Who will benefit most from Ariana’s Digital Writing Community?

  • Writers who struggle to call themselves “writers”

  • Writers who’ve been told to “study their craft” but have never been taught how to do so

  • Writers who feel excluded from traditional literary spaces

  • Writers with practical questions about the logistics of being a writer

  • Writers who can’t seem to find the time to work on creative writing projects

  • Writers seeking accountability and a values-aligned supportive community

  • Writers who enjoy poetry but are open to writing and studying other genres

  • Writers looking for a low-stakes, slow-spaced alternative to an MFA program

  • Writers interested in prioritizing PROCESS over PRODUCT

Who is this not for?

  • Writers with zero interest in poetry. Ariana’s creative writing pedagogy is inclusive of all genres, but has a strong emphasis on studying poetry. She believes “poetry is the genre all other genres go to experiment” and views poetry as foundational to a well-rounded creative writing practice.

  • This community focuses primarily on poetry, fiction, and some creative nonfiction. Writers who focus on picture books and young children’s literature (middle grade or below) may not feel their needs are being met.

  • Writers seeking step-by-step manuscript guidance. This is a generative, slow-paced learning environment for writers to sharpen their communal study skills, not a manuscript coaching program.

The Details

Cost: $5-45 per month, depending on your chosen tier. You can also join for free (you'll only get access to monthly writing tips) to see if this is the kind of thing you'll like. View all membership tiers here.

Schedule: Most live Zoom events (such as writing workshops, community chats, and open mics) take place on Tuesdays at 7pm CST. Co-writing sessions take place on Mondays from 1pm-2:30pm CST and Saturdays from 11:30am-1pm CST. All live events except open mics are recorded.

Who's Involved: Ariana leads all live Zoom events and curates every resource on the Patreon. Live Zoom events are usually pretty intimate (we've never had more than 12 members on a single live Zoom event, though there are over 100 members in the community). Most members are LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, non-MFA writers, and writers of color with busy schedules who are just trying to make time for writing when they can.

Focus: The Digital Writing Community was originally designed for poets, as poetry is Ariana's primary genre. Writing workshops are generative and focus on learning craft skills from poetry (and sometimes literary fiction or creative nonfiction). The community has grown to include members who write plays, novels, essays, and zines, but most resources and workshops focus on what we can learn from poetry.

Sample Writing Workshop

Check out this free sample workshop (readings + prompts included) I offered in July 2025 to get a taste of my teaching style and the vibes of the community. This workshop theme was Listening to Our Bodies, based on an excerpt from the poetry collection blood sugar canto by Mexican American poet ir'ene lara silva.

Our conversation revolved around invisible illnesses and disability, how certain illnesses are made inevitable by oppressive societies, how to make peace with our bodies, and how to recover relationships with food, our bodies, and each other that were taken from us by colonizing forces.

What members say about their experience

"Ariana's Digital Writing Community provided me with a space to nerd out with other writers about what we created! This community has been elemental in gifting my inner artist permission to re-emerge."

- Nick George, member since Jan 2025

"In the co-writing sessions, I'm able to show up as exactly I am, connect with other writers, & steadily chip away at whatever it is I need to work on for my writing practice on any given day, whether I'm generating work, editing, or doing the dreaded admin of it all. I love the feeling of camaraderie that I always experience, & how attending the sessions regularly over time has really helped heal my shame around my inconsistency when it comes to valuing my writing practice."

- Loma, member since April 2023

"Working with Ariana and her Patreon community allowed me to see my writing as a practice, and enabled me to find the joy in creating again. Since becoming active with Ariana's Patreon community, I have completed several flash fiction pieces and one traditional short story, all of which I am currently working to polish for submission in the near future."

- Keisha, member since May 2023
